How do i make my computer stop freezing?

First things first it isnt a virus.i have virus scanned it and i even brought it to some place for them to fix it. it took 5 days then i got the computer back and then it freezes again.Ok so this isnt a virus so what can it be?!?!?! and my computer is windows vista btw
