Wi-fi connection issue with metro phone?

I just bought a Huawei Ascend from Metro PCS today and it all works good, except I can't get the wi-fi to work. I click my wi-fi network under wi-fi settings, put in my password for the router, and then under the word wi-fi at the top, it starts to say,"Scanning", "Connecting", "Authenticating", then it just says Disconnected. No idea what to do.
