Are the books that are recommened by Oprah any good?

Ok, im 17 years old and I read ALOT, but the book has to keep me engrossed. Im above most teenager books because i find most of them to be reptitive (and because i kinda like well written, gory horror stories, that you just cant quite get in the teen aisle). But not all of them are terrible. Anyways, i was looking through Oprah magazine and her book reviews and they all look so boring. But im trying to stop judging a book by its cover and i was just wondering would these book be entertaining for me or should i just keep searching? I just dont wanna waste my money and be dissapointed.
